Sto Werkstatt and British Council presents Im|materiality in The Garden of Privatised Delights

Sto Werkstatt and British Council were proud to present this online public debate celebrating The Garden of Privatised Delights exhibition at the British Pavilion co-curated by Manijeh Verghese and Madeleine Kessler and commissioned by the British Council for the 17th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.
Chaired by Sevra Davis (Director of Architecture, Design and Fashion, British Council) the debate focused on the role materiality and immateriality play in designing, reclaiming or using privatised public spaces

The debate explores the role that architects have in rethinking what privatised public spaces could be, as well as the tools that they can give the public to help navigate issues such as ownership, planning and access rights. It asked what role materials play in opening up privatised public spaces for new users, activities or to create a sense of belonging, as well as how the immateriality of certain aspects of privatised public space presents a challenge to architects and users?
